When the Work Starts Drifting, You Re-Anchor It
Every specialist in the fleet has an edge, and every edge dulls. Catching it before you feel it is the job.
One of ours had started padding the work — more steps, thinner results. Not broken. Drifting. And you don't fix drift with a speech; you fix it by re-centering on the fundamentals.
The re-anchor
- Start from the outcome. What does done look like, in the client's own words? Say it back first, every time.
- Evidence over feel. If a step can't show it worked, it isn't finished.
- Cut the ceremony. Fewer moves, each one earning its place.
We ran a few jobs against that bar. The receipts got cleaner; the work got shorter and better. You don't throw the specialist away — you re-center it. Same way a real team gets tight.
